Ramadan Bazaar and Sunglasses

It is Ramadan month! Muslims all around the world have started their holy practice of fasting from the beginning of dawn til sunset. Well the happiest part of this month is of course the long awaited bazaar! Not only Muslim butt everyone is excited for the return of bazaar. During Ramadan, everyone starts barging out to treat themselves with wide array of tempting food and drinks at choice. Now, you must already be wondering how is Ramadan bazaar and sunglasses related to each other? Well, it is easy to forget the most important thing while being outside under the sun. Thats is, protect your eyes from the harmful UV rays. Some people might perceive that wearing sunglasses is a little bit too overdo. Little did we know, our eyes still need their utmost protection from UV rays, generally UV-A and UV-B. Here is the 5 perks of wearing sunglasses to bazaar.

1. As lame as it sounds, it protects your eyes from the blazing sun.

There are two types of UV rays: UV-A and UV-B. Over time, the effects of UV rays may help cause a number of eye problems. UV-A Can hurt your central vision. It can damage the macula, a part of the retina at the back of your eye. UV-B The front part of your eye (the cornea and the lens) absorbs most UV-B rays, but these rays may cause even more damage to your eyes than UV-A rays. There is no such thing like in Malaysia we do not need sunglasses or what; we all share the same sun so it still can damage your eyes if you experience prolonged exposure to the sun. UV rays are just as potent on a cloudy day as they are on a clear day, so proper eye and skin protection is always needed. The safest bet is to buy sunglasses that provide 100% UV protection, or UV 400 protection. That means the glasses can protect your eyes from both UVA and UVB radiation.

2. Simply because you want to hide from your ex?

Bazaar is a place where you meet everyone that you do not want to meet; from your primary school buddy that always remember how ugly you are at that time until those exes that you wish you never know each other. Wearing sunglasses is quite practical in that sense. In fact, if they want to approach you, your sunglasses actually help you to give them you-should-regret-dumping-me-for-that-crazy-girl look and to be able to ignore them easily. Maybe that is why most celebrities wear sunglasses even for gala dinner who knows?

3. Avoid those unnecessary eye contact

It is amazing how a simple eyewear actually helps you to achieve more. For example like wanting to give those laser looking eyes to those lovebirds that are walking so slowly amidst the busy bazaar while going unnoticed. Or maybe sneering at people that is too fussy about how much sambal they want in their nasi lemak or even rolling your eyes looking at those tak puasa kids slurping so loud at their coconut shake in front of you. There is also those cases of people that are so happy meeting old lost friends they stop walking and talking so loud while blocking the way for others. Well you didn’t want to look rude but at the same time you still have this urge to curse quietly while judging them behind your sunglasses. Bazaar is always the place that unite and reunite people so you got to prepare to look as if you ARE compromising with these people. Grab on your sunglasses and let’s go for the Ramadan bazaar now!

4. Protect your eye from smokes and dust

Yeah, it sounds boring and dull but it is the truth! Enough of getting you hair and clothes smell of smokes after those bazaar trips so you should at the very least have this consciousness to protect your pretty eyes. Those tiny, tiny floating particles in the smokes can surely damage your eyes and it is worse if you are wearing contact lenses. Never ever attempt to walk directly to the smokes that the very least you should do is to squint your eyes a little bit while praying hard not to get any itchiness in your eyes later. Even a tiny grains of sand can actually scratch your eye and can cause permanent damage. So it is very important to wear glasses especially when you have the temptation to buy those juicy grilled chicken or ayam bakar.

You can even have different sunglasses for different activities or to coordinate with different clothing styles. We Malaysians are blessed with hot and humid weather for the whole year that there is always the need of a good pair of sunglasses. Going to a bazaar trip can even get much more fun, even with just a sunglasses element you put on. Ramadan bazaar and a pair of cool sunglasses? Best combination! So, why not?
